When to use PLA
Visual prototypes, concept models, low-stress enclosures, and quick design validation where heat resistance isn't critical.
When to use ABS
Functional prototypes needing impact resistance and heat tolerance — automotive housings, electronic enclosures, and parts exposed to moderate temperatures.
Epicblaze v1 Printer Settings
PLA Settings
Nozzle: 190–220°C, Bed: 50–60°C, No heated enclosure needed. Compatible with all FDM printers including the Epicblaze v1.
ABS Settings
Nozzle: 230–250°C, Bed: 95–110°C, Heated enclosure strongly recommended to prevent warping. The Epicblaze v1's 350°C extruder handles ABS with headroom to spare.
Our Recommendation
PLA is the safer default for most startup prototyping — faster to print, no warping, and biodegradable. Switch to ABS only when your part will be exposed to temperatures above 55°C or needs superior impact resistance. For heat-critical applications beyond ABS, consider PETG or polycarbonate.
